Description |
Usage |
|
Last Number Redial (LNR) |
Redials the last number that a station user called. |
Lift the
handset and receive dial tone. Then dial # + #.
To use this feature with long distance calls, redial your authcode and
then dial # + #. |
|
Call Waiting (CWT) |
Call waiting informs you, while you are on a call, that a second call is
waiting. The calling party hears ringing while you receive a call
waiting tone. You can place the established call on hold, alternate
between the two parties, or abandon one of the calls. |
You are on
an established call and hear the call waiting tone. Inform the party
with whom you are talking that you are going to place them on hold.
Depress the switchhook once momentarily (flash), and begin conversing
with the second party. You can return to the first call by flashing the
switchhook, placing the second party on hold. This can be repeated as
often as you wish as long as the held party does not abandon the call. |
|
Cancel Call Waiting (CCW) |
Allows the station user to cancel call waiting on a per call basis. |
CCW can be invoked before placing a call or during a telephone
conversation.
Before placing a call, the station user picks up the receiver and receives dial
tone and dials *95. The user will then receive a confirmation tone and then a
second dial tone. At this point in time, the user may dial his/her call using
the normal dialing procedure. When the call is completed, call waiting is
automatically restored to the line.
During a telephone conversation, the station flashes the switchhook, receives
dial tone and dials *95. The user will then receive a confirmation tone and is
returned to the conversation. When the call is completed, call waiting is
automatically restored to the line.
CCW will prevent unwanted computer characters when using a modem on your
telephone line. Also, CCW may be invoked to prevent interruptions during
important calls. |
|
Call Forward Intragroup (CFI) |
Reroutes incoming calls to a designated four digit on-campus
station. |
To forward calls:
1. Lift receiver and get dial tone.
2. Dial access code *74 and receive special dial tone.
3. Dial the station number of the desired destination and receive confirmation
tone.
Recap: *74 + station number.
4. Place handset upside-down in the cradle to indicate that calls are being
forwarded.
To cancel call forwarding (CFI), dial *75 and replace handset to its normal
position. |
|
Ring Again (RAG) |
Redials a previously busy line when that line becomes idle. This
feature only works with on-campus numbers. |
The station user (Party A) dials Party B and encounters a busy
tone. He flashes the switchhook, receives special dial tone, and
dials the Ring Again access code, *70. Confirmation tone is
received and the user hangs up.
When Party B's line becomes idle, Party A's telephone emits two
short bursts of ringing. Party A picks up the handset and Party
B's line starts ringing.
Note: RAG can only be invoked for one call at a time.
Under some conditions, RAG cannot be used when you encounter a
busy signal. For example, if Party B has forwarded their calls to
another station and this number is busy, RAG cannot be invoked.
Party A will not receive special dial tone when they flash the
switchhook. |
|
Speed Call Short List (SCS) |
Allows a station user to program ten numbers (0-9) against their
line and dial three digits to call the programmed numbers. |
The station user dials *78, receives special dial tone, then
dials the digit under which they wish to store the number (0-9).
The user continues programming with 8 + *, the authcode, *, and
then the telephone number, followed by an #. For example, if the
user wants to program (313) 555-1133 under digit 1, the user
dials:
*78 + 1 + 8 + * + authcode + * + 9 + 1 + 313 + 555-1133 + #
After programming, to dial the number, the user need only dial *
+ 1 + #.
Note 1: The speed call list stores a maximum of 25 digits,
therefore, some international numbers must be stored under a
separate speed call number.
Note 2: An authcode can be stored by itself. For example, the
user may wish to store an authcode under digit 9. To program
this, the user dials:
*78 + 9 + 8 + * + authcode + #
To dial a long distance number the user dials:
*9 + # and finishes dialing with 9 + 1 + area code + 7-digit
number
Note 3: The finished number may also be stored in the speed call
list. For example, 9 + 1 + (214) 555- 6631 may be stored under
digit 3. To dial this number with an authcode, the user would
dial:
*9 + # + *3 + #
Note 4: To deprogram a number, dial *78, the stored digit (0-9),
and a #. |
|
Three-Way Calling (3WC) |
At least two of the three parties must be campus
phones.
Allows a station user to transfer a call by flashing the
switchhook. The user has the option to screen the call or to
enter a three person conference with this feature.
|
Call Transfer: The station user (Party A) receives a
call from Party B. Party B wishes to speak to Party C. The
user flashes the switchhook, receives special dial tone, dials
Party C, and hangs up.
Call Screening/Conference 3 Middleman: The station user
(Party A) receives a call from Party B. Party B wishes to
speak to Party C. Party A flashes the switchhook, receives
special dial tone, and dials Party C. Party A & C may converse
privately at this time. To add Party B, the station user
flashes the switchhook. To complete the transfer, Party A
hangs up. If Party A wishes to be in on a conference, he may
stay on the line.
Conference 3 Originate: The station user (Party A)
dials Party B. Party A flashes the switchhook, receives
special dial tone, and dials Party C. Party A & C may converse
privately at this time. To complete the conference, Party A
flashes the switchhook.
Note: If the user encounters a busy tone or no answer
when dialing Party C, to retrieve Party B, the station user
flashes the switchhook twice. |
|
Speed Call User (SCU) |
Allows a station user to dial
preprogrammed numbers from a speed call long list by dialing
only four digits. |
The user obtains a speed call long list from the speed call
controller. To dial a number on the list, the user lifts the
handset and receives dial tone, depresses the speed call
user button and then dials the digits under which the number
is stored (00-69).
For example, if (616) 796-0461 is stored under digit 08, the
user would:
Lift the handset and receive dial tone, depress the speed
call user button (LCD on), and dial 08 (LCD off)
Note: If the speed call user is assigned to a directory
number instead of a button, the user lifts the handset,
depresses the line button of the line on which speed call is
assigned, receives dial tone, and then dials * + the stored
digits (00-69).
Note: There is no limit to the number of users on the speed
call list, but a user may only belong to one long list.
Speed call users may be restricted from dialing long
distance numbers. |
|
Call Pickup (CPU) |
Allows a station user to answer calls ringing at other
stations within their call pickup group. |
A call rings on party B's desk. The station user, party A,
lifts the handset and receives dial tone. They then depress
the call pickup button (no LCD associated with this feature)
and answer party B's call.
If the call pickup feature is assigned to a station number
instead of a button, the station user lifts the handset,
presses the button for the line on which CPU has been
assigned and receives dial tone. They then dial the call
pickup access code *71, and receive party B's call. |
|
Call Park (PRK) |
Holds an active call against the station user's line and
allows the user or someone else to retrieve the call from
any other station. It also frees up the station user's
line for other calls while a call is parked. |
Parking a Call: The station user receives a call.
To park the call the user depresses the call park button
(the LCD will light and confirmation tone is received).
The light will then go out.
The calling party hears ringing tone when the call is
parked.
Retrieving a Parked Call: The user lifts the
handset and receives dial tone, then depresses the call
park button and receives special dial tone. They then dial
the station number against which the call was parked.
Note: If call park is assigned to a directory number
instead of a button, the user can only retrieve a parked
call. To retrieve a call, the user lifts the handset and
depresses the line button of the line on which call park
is assigned and receives dial tone. They then dial the
access code *73 and receive special dial tone. They then
dial the station number on which the call was parked.
If the call is not retrieved within four minutes, the
parked call will ring back in on the original line. |
|
Call Forward Intergroup (CFU) |
This feature requires prior approval of the
Telecom Director.
Reroutes incoming calls to a designated station or
off-campus number that has been programmed by the
station user. |
To forward calls off-campus:
1. Depress the call forward button (LCD flashes).
2. Dial the off-campus number. For example, 9 +
773-1212.
3. Depress the call forward button again (LCD on).
To cancel call forward, depress the call forward button
(LCD off).
To forward calls on campus:
1. Depress the call forward button (LCD flashes).
2. Dial the 4-Digit campus number.
3. Depress the call forward button again (LCD on).
To cancel call forward, depress the call forward button
(LCD off).
Note: Once a station has been programmed to
either an off-campus for an on- campus number, call
forward can be invoked to that number by simply
depressing the call forward button twice.
To forward calls if call forward is assigned to a
station number instead of a button:
1. Lift the handset and depress the line button for the
line on which call forward is assigned and receive dial
tone.
2. Dial *74 + the 4-Digit station number + # for on
campus. Dial *74 + 9 + 7-Digit number for off-campus.
To cancel call forward, lift the handset and depress the
line button for the line on which call forward is
assigned and receive dial tone. Then dial *75. |
|
Call Forward Don’t Answer (CFD) |
Automatically routes calls that are not answered after
3 rings to a preprogrammed station number (on-campus
only). The station user cannot change the
pre-programmed number except by contacting
Telecommunications. |
No user action is required. Note: Most calls are
pre-programmed to a secretarial position |
|
Call Forward Busy (CFB) |
Automatically routes calls made to a busy station
number to a pre-programmed station number (on-campus
only). The station user cannot change the
preprogrammed number except by contacting
Telecommunications. |
No user action is necessary. Note: Most calls are
pre-programmed to a secretarial position. |
|
Authcodes |
By dialing an authcode, the user overrides toll
denied service. Station-specific authcodes are six
digits long, and system-wide authcodes are seven
to nine digits long. |
To use an authcode, a user dials 8 + #, receives
special dial tone, dials an authcode + #, receives
regular dial tone, then follows the dialing plan
to complete the long distance call.
To dial within the United States, Canada, and the
Caribbean Islands, the user dials 8 + # + authcode
+ # + 9 + 1 + area code + number.
To dial
international calls, the user dials 8 + # + authcode + # + 9 + 011 + country code + city code
+ number. |
|
Permanent Hold (HLD) |
Puts an active call on hold through the use of
an access code.
|
The user flashes the switchhook and receives
special dial tone. He dials access code *82 and
receives confirmation tone. The user then
returns the handset to the cradle.
The call is retrieved by picking up the handset. |
