Follow this procedure to configure your Outlook 2000 Calendar settings in Corporate/Workgroup Mode.

Note This procedure assumes you have not previously been using Outlook to access email at CMU.

Before Starting
Before beginning, make sure you have the following information:

- Your Global ID
- Your Central Domain Windows password
- The name of the Exchange server hosting your mailbox (for example, CMAIL1)

Overview of Steps
  1. Importing Personal Folders to Outlook Express
  2. Converting the Address Book and Personal Folders from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000
  3. Miscellaneous Outlook Express "Gotcha's"

A. Importing Personal Folders to Outlook Express
  1. In Outlook Express, on the File menu, click Import, and then click Messages.

  2. In the Outlook Express Import Select Program box, click Netscape Communicator, and then click Next.

  3. In Location of Messages, click Browse to navigate to the Mail folder where Messenger stores messages. The following is the typical path:

    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\<User name>\Mail

where <User name> is the name of the Netscape profile to be imported.

  4. Click the Mail folder, click OK, and then click Next.

  5. In Select Folders, click to select All Folders, or click Selected Folders, and then click the individual folders to import. You can use the CTRL key to select multiple folders. Click Next.
  6. After the message conversion is completed, click Finish, and then exit Outlook Express.

B. Converting the Address Book and Personal Folders from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000
  1. In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.

  2. In the Import and Export Wizard, click Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and then click Next.

  3. In Select the Internet Mail application to import from, click to select Outlook Express 4.x, 5. Verify that Import Mail and Import Addresses are selected. Because Outlook Express does not import Netscape Messenger rules, this option can be ignored for the Outlook conversion. Click Next.

  4. In Select a destination for Imported Addresses, click Outlook Contacts Folder, and then click Finish.

C. Miscellaneous Outlook Express "Gotcha's"

If you were using Outlook in "Internet mode" to access CMU email, then, after reconfiguring mail services, Outlook may continue to default to delivering mail to your personal folders (similar to POP). If this is not what you want, select Tools > Services > Delivery and change the "Deliver new mail..." drop-down option to the Mailbox entry corresponding to your name. Your personal folders will still provide local archival storage for old mail that you choose to copy from the server.

The default security setting in Outlook for your Calendar is "None". This means that your Outlook Calendar cannot be viewed by anyone else. The recommended setting is "Reviewer". This allows any other authenticated Exchange user to view your Calendar. Note that you still have the option of making individual entries on your Calendar private if you choose to set permissions this way. To change your Calendar settings, right-click on "Calendar" in your folder list and select Properties. From the pop-up menu, select the Permissions tab, then select Reviewer from the Roles drop-down menu.
