Configuring the settings for Windows 95/98/ME:
- On the desktop, click on Start > Settings > Control Panel, then double-click on
Network.
- Double-click on Client for Microsoft Networks.
- Make sure that Logon to Windows NT domain is unchecked.
- Under Network logon options, click on Quick Logon.
- Click OK to return to the Network window.

Adapter
This is dependent on what kind of card you have. Double-click on the Ethernet Adapter and make sure of the following:
- Set the driver type to Enhanced Mode.
- Under Bindings make sure that TCP/IP is checked.
Click OK.
TCP/IP
Double-click on TCP/IP and make the following settings:
Note: There are several tabs at the top of the TCP/IP Properties window.
You will need to click on these tabs to change the settings under each of the categories.
- Under IP address, click on Obtain IP address automatically.
- Under WINS Configuration, click on Disable WINS resolution.
- Under DNS configuration:
- Click on Enable DNS.
- Under host, type “Home”.
- Type cmich.edu as the domain.
- Under Bindings, make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is checked.
- Under Advanced, do not change anything.
- Finally, click on OK to close the TCP/IP Properties window. Then click on
OK to close the Network window. The system will ask you to restart the computer at this time. Click on
Yes to restart.
The network connection should now be active on restart.
Note: To verify that you have been connected to the internet, either go
to Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and type
http://www.cmich.edu in the URL location
field. If the connection is successful, you will be connected to the
Web site.
