Use the Windows 98 Boot Disk to get your machine up and running to the
DOS prompt.
Follow these steps:
- Make sure your computer's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Insert the Windows 98 Boot Disk in your floppy drive.
- Move your computer's power switch to the ON position.
- When the system starts to boot, a prompt appears asking you to choose how you want your machine to boot. Most of the time, you will want to choose the “Boot with CD-ROM support” option.
- Once your system has booted, it will be setting at the A:\ prompt. You should now have CD-ROM support on your system. The default drive letter for the CD-ROM is the E:\ drive. This is
because when you boot from the Windows 98 Boot Disk, it makes a RAM drive and that gets labeled D: on most systems.
